“Narudi tena Nairobi kumzika mtu!” – Karim Mandonga beats Kenya’s Wanyonyi in the sixth round

In front of a packed house at the Kenyatta International Convention Center, Tanzanian boxer Mandonga defeated his opponent, Wanyonyi, in the fifth round via technical knockout (KICC).

The bout lived up to its billing as a confrontation between two as Mandonga came out firing at the first bell.

Wanyonyi, who is known for his strong punches and aggressive approach, got off to a poor start, but Mandonga’s better quickness and tenacity allowed him to dominate him from the beginning to the end.

As the battle progressed, Mandonga took control and scored many crisp hooks to Wanyonyi’s body and head.

With powerful punches and superior technique, Mandonga was the dominant force from the beginning of the battle.

Despite making a heroic attempt, Wanyonyi was unable to withstand the constant pressure and was eliminated in the fifth round.

To the dismay of the spectators, Mandonga delivered devastating hooks to Wanyonyi in the fifth round. Wanyonyi then declined to return for the sixth, giving Mandonga the victory.

Mandonga’s victory was crucial because it cemented his place among the best fighters and might have prepared him for a future title battle.

Mandonga asserted that boxing demands a mouthy mentality in his post-fight interview and that he will be back in April for another battle.

“Mdomo ni ya kupiga promo, nikiingia ulingo iko nafasi ya ngumi,” Mandonga said.

“Narudi tena Nairobi, Kenya hii Aprili ‘kumzika mtu’, raundi ya kwanza kaburi lake liko wapi? Muwekeni pale! Nitakuja na ngumi nyingine, sio Sugunyo tena,” he added.

Mandonga also thanked Kenyans for their attendance and warm welcome.
