KNBS study has revealed that Kakamega, Garissa, Turkana, Kericho and Kirinyaga Counties Have men with the lowest percentage of men with multiple sexual partners.
Garissa(2%), Turkana(5%), Kericho (2%). Kirinyaga(1.6 %), and Kakamega(5.6 % )
Migori county led the nation with highest number of men with multiple partners at 28.7%. The sexual activity in Migori county, is attributed to the venue being a transit town with high number of trucks heading to Tanzania and Uganda. 11% of Kenyan women with multiple sexual partners are from Murang’a County.
Residents of Narok, Mombasa, West Pokot, Elgeyo Marakwet, and Embu counties lead the chart on the list of persons with multiple sex partners.
The high sex rate in Mombasa has in the past been attributed to sex tourism with thousands of tourists visiting the coastal town for holiday.
The high sex rates in Narok, West Pokot, Marakwet counties have meanwhile been linked to the high levels of adult illiteracy.
Demographically, wealthier, educated men and those living in urban areas reported having more than two sexual partners in the last year. This could be one of the the indicators why men in regions as Turkana, Garissa and Kakamega are experiencing lowest percentage of them having sexual partners.
