Machachari actor Govi reveals he earns KSh 5 million from acting

Malik Lemmy, also known as Govi for his role in the local serial Machachari, is making money in his acting career.

The young actor played Govi, a cool child who solved difficulties for his classmates whenever they got into trouble.

He began performing at an early age, and his aptitude was obvious to everyone.
In 2018, he left the show to pursue his education. He has appeared in other shows.

Govi began acting at the age of five, according to Nairobi News. Before auditioning for Machachari, he appeared on Makutano Junction.

He is currently a university student studying international relations and political science.

“It has been a long journey and I appreciate it, I started at Makutano Junction in 2005. I thank God for the journey.

When I quit Machachari, I have been involved in several things. First of all, in school, I am almost finishing my university studies in international relations and political science. In 2020 I got back on screen for the drama series Kina, Kutu. There is also another show called Mawimbi that is coming out in a few I have done a lot,” he revealed.

Govi is currently part of the cast of the new show Pepeta airing on Showmax. In the series, he acts as a selfish man who loves women, and his friends and is easygoing.

He said the on-screen character is the opposite of what he is in the real life since he doesn’t love clout and is rarely posting on social media, Who Owns Kenya reported.

“In real life, I am a quiet man, a family man who doesn’t like clout, I like speaking the truth and not lying about my status because I believe humility is also very important.

A PriceWaterhouseCoopers report titled Entertainment and Media Outlook ranked the Kenyan entertainment industry third in Africa with over KSh 189 billion in revenue.

Govi disclosed that the Kenyan industry pays well at the moment compared to old times when they took home a meagre KSh 500.

He explained that if one sets his priorities right and establishes his brand well, then they can get good pay.

“As you can see for yourself, I have a good life in a year I can make up to KSh 5 million,” he said.

Govi hopes to conquer Kenya and Africa at large in the near future. He advised upcoming actors to persevere and warned against succumbing to peer pressure.
