Police recover over 2000 Phones From Kasarani Thug

A man who is thought to be the organizer of criminal activity in Nairobi’s Kasarani neighborhood has been detained by police.

Olando reportedly led the police into his home, where he had buried the phones that his gang members had brought.

In the police storage area, a table was set up with mobile phones, displaying phones of various designs and price ranges.

Anthony Mbogo, Deputy Commandant of Kasarani Police, claimed that the thieves may have a ready market for the selling of the devices and that the phones cost about KSh 10 million.

“They seem they have a free market somewhere where they are ready for sale. What we have recovered here is Kasarani is worth around KSh 10 million,” Mbogo claimed.

The deputy commandant also disclosed that more than 10 suspects had been arrested and arraigned in court to answer to charges against them.

“So far the muggers that we have arrested are numbering 12 already who have appeared before court and this one is the mastermind who receives all stolen phones,” he said.
Mbogo asked Nairobians to be extra vigilant and inform the police of anything dangerous to them or their property.

“We keep watch of what they are doing outside there, they should know that we are there and ready to help so that we can eradicate this menace,” Mbogo advised.
The confiscation of the phones came weeks after heightened insecurity was reported in Nairobi and its environs.
