Nairobi socialite Black Cinderella dies, Family confirms

Maureen Imbayi, a.k.a. “Black Cinderella” and a former cast member of Nairobi Diaries, passed away, according to her family.

The family thanked her supporters and well-wishers for their help during this trying time in a statement posted on social media on April 24.

Maureen Imbayi died in the late hours of Monday, April 22, 2024, according to the statement.

“Dear Friends, supporters, and well-wishers, We want to sincerely thank you for having stood firmly with The Black Cinderella during this challenging time and it is with deepest regrets we wish to inform the public of her demise that occurred in the late hours of Monday 22 April 2024,” reads the statement.

The family revealed that she was rushed unconscious to the hospital, where medical professionals made every effort to resuscitate her, but unfortunately, their attempts were unsuccessful.

“Our beloved daughter was rushed unconscious to the hospital and every effort was made to resuscitate her by a medical team but unfortunately was unsuccessful,” reads the statement.

The family of Maureen, who died unexpectedly, has requested privacy during this difficult time, expressing hope for a fitting celebration of her life and contributions.

“The family with hospital policy will carry out the necessary procedures to determine the cause of death and we ask that the privacy of The Black Cinderella’s Family be respected during this difficult time we hope in the weeks to come we will find an appropriate way to celebrate the life that THE BLACK CINDERELLA had with us, together with the significant contribution she has made to the society,” reads the statement.

The socialite’s death has sparked skepticism among her followers, who question the authenticity of her passing. Some recall a previous incident where Black Cinderella allegedly faked her daughter’s death.

If confirmed, her Instagram message serves as her last message, emphasizing kindness, peace, and compassion. The truth of these suspicions remains to be seen.

“This is my last message online! To any generation that will hear this REMEMBER TO BE KIND TO OTHERS! I tried to make the world a better place but Nobody saw the good of my intentions! My little child and I are going somewhere else to look for Peace.

“To anyone going through anything just know that in the end, you will lose the battle. There is no need to stay… Just go home for only Jesus loves you. And to the rest, MY LAST MESSAGE ON THIS EARTH IS REMEMBER TO ALWAYS BE,” she wrote.
