DCI finally arrest Dj Brownskin over his wife’s death

Michael Njiiri, well known by his stage name Dj Brownskin, was reportedly detained on June 1, 2023—Madaraka Day.

He was taken into prison at the Kasarani police station after being found by Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) agents in a well-known Kasarani bar.

In order to conclude their inquiries, police were given permission to detain him for a week by the Makadara magistrate’s court.

He is being looked into for the crime in relation to the passing of his wife Sharon Njeri, 24, who passed away between the evenings of July 29 and 30, 2022.

Regarding the viral video of the DJ encouraging his deceased wife Sharon to commit suicide that went viral earlier this year, this is relevant.

In the footage, a man hiding behind the camera can be heard requesting that the late Sharon Njeri proceed with mixing the mixture.

She willingly does so and gulps the content as the man continues recording. Within no time the woman is seen writhing in pain before everything goes blank.

The man is alleged to be DJ Brownskin who had two kids with the late Sharon. Even though she took her own life in July 2022, it is not clear the motive behind the video being released now.

Although no legal action was taken against DJ Brownskin at the time, popular lawyer Danstan Omari opined that it was possible to charge the DJ with a felony.

Omari said that anyone who sees someone committing suicide and fails to take any action to stop or report the offense is guilty of a felony under Penal Code section 225 (Aiding suicide).

Brownskin himself opened up about the video in late April this year saying,

“Anybody that believes lies about you before hearing your side of the story was already looking for a way to be against you,” read a quote shared by Brownskin.

Even though she took her own life in July 2022, it is not clear the motive behind the video being released now.

Below are some of the comments from Kenyans

Eva gakugi; It doesn’t matter if it happened Jana or 10 years ago, the fact that he could have done something is what is driving me crazy! He could have taken that milk and given it to her, no the minute she put that poison in the cup, he could have jumped and grabbed it. I am not okay. Aki no matter what you married people are going through, let it not get to this level. How are the kids going to live knowing very well that their mom took her own life as their father watched and recorded it? Ghai! Apana aki, this is not us!
