Kabarak University students protest after student dies in accident

Students at Kabarak University staged a demonstration on Sunday, November 19, in response to a student’s death in an incident involving a police vehicle.

According to Citizen Digital, the deceased has been identified by the police as Joshua Plimo, a first-year pharmacy student at Kabarak University.

The incident was recorded by the Menengai Police Station under OB no. 02/19/11/2023.

Witnesses claimed that after missing a bump, the police officer driving the car with government registration plates lost control of the vehicle and struck the student.

Around nine o’clock on Saturday night, there was a collision on the Nakuru-Ravine highway.

“The student attempted to stop the fast-moving car from hitting him, but it was too late. The vehicle hit him hard,” a witness stated.

The driver is said to have sped off from the scene of the accident.

Police officers from Mang’u Police Station, led by the OCPD, arrived at the scene of the accident and promised to investigate the matter.

The OCPD also thanked the students for maintaining peace and went ahead to confirm that the alleged vehicle had been detained and that investigations were ongoing.
