PSC shortlist Naomi Shaban, among 10 bigwigs for SRC job (FULL List)

Ten candidates have been narrowed down by the Parliamentary Service Commission (PSC) to be the nominee to the Salary and Remuneration Commission (SRC).

The PSC got an astounding 103 applications for the position prior to this.

The following contenders have been narrowed down:

  • Naomi Shaban (Taveta)
  • Florence Mutua (Busia Woman Representative)
  • David Were (Matungu)
  • Peter Mwathi (Limuru)
  • Jimmy Angwenyi (Kitutu Chache North)
  • Isaac Melly (Uasin Gishu Senator)
  • Abdi Muhumed Ali
  • Justa Wawira Mwangi
  • Ruth Nyaga
  • Judith Wachianga Ojwang

From 2007 until 2017, Naomi Shaban served as the Taveta MP. She was appointed to a number of committees during her time in office, including the Parliamentary Committee on Energy, Communication, and Information. She was also the Kenya Women Parliamentary Association’s Chairwoman (KEWOPA).

On the other side, Jimmy Angwenyi held the position of Kitutu Chache North MP from 2007 until 2013. In Parliament, Angwenyi was a vocal and contentious character.

The Parliamentary Committee on Finance, Planning, and Commerce was one of the committees that Angwenyi served on. Also, he belonged on the Public Accounts Committee.

The interviews will take place on March 22 at the Little Chamber in the Parliament Buildings.

The shortlisted candidates must present their National IDs, academic transcripts, clearance certificates from the Higher Education Loans Board, DCI, and the Kenya Revenue Authority, as well as a self-declaration form that has been approved by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission.

The PSC is a separate organization created in accordance with Article 127 of the Constitution to guarantee the efficient operation of the Houses of Parliament.

Jeremiah Nyegenye, the clerk of the senate, has invited the general public to submit sworn memos containing any relevant information regarding the eligibility of the shortlisted candidates.

The National Assembly Speaker, Moses Wetangula, and the Clerk of the Senate, Jeremiah Nyegenye, officiated in the ceremony in which the PSC members were sworn in in November 2022.
