Lupita Nyong’o Donates KSh 1.1m Scholarships To 40 Students

Oscar-winning actress Lupita Nyong’o helped 40 students achieve their school goals by providing them with $10,000 (KSh 1.1 million) in scholarships.

At the 13th National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) meeting, the Hollywood actress gave the fantastic surprise.

The young pupils reportedly won the scholarships at the ACT-SO award event in Atlantic City, New Jersey, according to official information from the NAACP.

A year-long program called ACT-SO is aimed at high school students to encourage their development in the fields of business, performing and culinary arts, visual arts, and business.

The Write Her Future Scholarship Fund, which focuses on empowering women through literacy, mentorship, and business, is made available through a partnership between Lancôme and the NAACP.

The Lancôme ambassador Lupita said that she always had lofty goals and that education was crucial in enabling her to achieve them.

“I believe that learners change the world. I am so thrilled to join Lancôme, on behalf of their Write Her Future Scholarship Fund, to award this incredible group of women with these game-changing scholarships,” she said.

Derrick Johnson, President & CEO of the organization, stated that they are thrilled to support exceptional young ladies once more.

They will have the chance to develop their creativity and work with unlimited enthusiasm and purpose to fulfill their academic goals.

“Young people are the future. We’re excited to see how participants in the program will positively impact their communities and create change for themselves and the next generation,” he said.

Two years ago, Lupita Nyong’o was nominated for four awards in the 51st edition of the NAACP Image Awards.

The actress, who did not manage to attend the award ceremony, emerged as a winner in two of the four categories she was nominated.

Lupita won the Best Actress award for her role in Jordan Peele’s movie and her second award was for Outstanding Literary Work Children for her book Sulwe.
