9 Kenyan celebrities who did colorful weddings, but their marriages collapsed
We look at some of the top names in the Kenyan celeb-ville who dared not to stay in their marriages and relationships and instead walked out.
They were once in love, they went a notch higher and walked down the aisle with their sweethearts, some even had kids, but things turned ugly along the way and they separated.
1. Gloria Muliro and Pastor Eric Omba
The celebrated gospel singer walked down the aisle with Pastor Eric Omba in a colourful, highly flaunted wedding. Five years into their marriage, Gloria walked out and went on to reveal how abusive and promiscuous Omba had become. She once told TUKO.co.ke that she will never go back to Omba.
Pastor Omba has since married and has a kid with his new Congolese wife. Meanwhile, Gloria has concentrated on her Music, releasing hit after another.
2. Dennis Okari and Betty Kyallo
They are arguably some of the big names in the Kenyan TV space. Okari is an investigative reporter for NTV while Betty is a news anchor for KTN. The two married in a colourful, highly publicised wedding and even went to Malaysia for honeymoon.
They have a beautiful daughter but as w speak, they are no longer a thing. They separated and Betty has even been seeing a prominent politician whom yet again they parted ways.
3. Terryanne Chebet and George Kirumburu Ng’ang’a
Terryanne Chebet also separated with her baby daddy.
The former Citizen TV anchor was once dating George Ng’ang’a with whom she got a daughter. But as fate is, they parted ways. Recently, Chebet gave birth to another kid. She is yet to reveal the man behind it.
4. Lillian Muli and Moses Kanene
Lilian Muli was married to Kanene but they separated.
Another TV personality who walked out of her marriage after a colourful wedding. Lilian Muli of Citizen TV married Moses Kanene in a colourful wedding. They had a kid together but they separated years into their marriage.
5. Sharon Mundia and Lonina Leteipan
We all remember the day Leteipan, a former banker, flew the fashion blogger to the foot of Mt. Kenya to propose to her. It was all every Kenyan lady desired. Then they wedded in a colourful, invite only wedding. Then they had a daughter together. Then they separated. Then rumours trickled in regarding Mundia’s sexual orientation. They are just rumours to date.
6. Anne Kiguta
Anne Kiguta walked out of her abusive marriage.
The Citizen TV anchor was once married to a man she so loved. But things turned ugly when the man stopped placing his hands on her tenderly with total love to battering her like a traditional Bukusu drum.
The man even injured Anne at some point. She took her child and walked, never to return. Anne went on to marry someone from President Uhuru Kenyatta’s extended family. She has twins with the man.
7. DNG and Yvette Nungari
A former radio presenter who unsuccessfully had an attempt on rapping, DNG married Yvette in a much publicised relationship. They went places, they did things, they flaunted everything. But their married came to a halt after Yvette accused DNG of infidelity. DNG went on a rampage and called Yvette names.
8. Shaffie Weru and Debbie Asila
The Kiss 100 presenter who is also a self-christened ‘raverend’ thanks to his love for the bottle was once dating former radio presenter and singer Debbie Asila. They dated way back when couples making their relationships public was rare. They conceived a daughter but years down the line, they separated. Asila moved to the US.
9. Robert Burale
Robert Burale separated with his wife more than 5 years ago.
Many know Robert Israel Burale in many aspects. But what makes us remember him is his days at the now defunct Fashion Watch Show on Citizen TV.
For many, he looked the most sober of the panelists. Burale recently shocked many when he said he hasn’t slept with any woman for four years since separating with his wife. Yes, they separated four years ago and it seems he is good to go without ‘kaima’.
