Former UoN Student Asks Kenyans Help Buy KSh 4,500 Trolley

A University of Nairobi dropout has appealed for help to start a small business to cater for his family’s needs.

Speaking to TUKO, Simon Nyakundi, a former Upperhill student pursuing a degree in environmental and biosystems engineering, said he deferred school before joining the third year and fell on hard times.

“Soon after joining UoN, my father, who supported me, died. I kept going for two years, but the pressure got too much.”

My father had two wives, and after his passing, the first wife started harassing us, saying the land and house we were staying on were hers.”
According to Nyakundi, she even followed him to campus, harassing him, and the pressure made him start doing drugs.

“I deferred, but the deferment period ended, and I had not returned to school.”

Nyakundi rented a house and then hit the streets of Nairobi looking for work but could not land permanent employment.

After failing to pay rent, he found himself out on the streets.

“While living in the streets, I met my wife at a rehab in Ngara Maisha House, and we got our first child in the street.”

Nyakundi, a trolley pusher in the CBD, raised funds and rented a house in Majengo near Gikomba.

He appealed for help in acquiring a trolley as he usually rents one at a fee.

“I usually pay KSh 250 per day for a trolley. So please help me get a trolley to provide for my family and, if possible complete my education.”

Nyakundi is looking at purchasing a second-hand trolley going for KSh 4,500. To assist him, contributions can be sent to till 9704875, name Lloyd Goodwin.
