Police take action after video of lady screaming for help in speeding Probox go viral

Over the weekend, a video of an unnamed woman being forced into a speeding Probox along Thika Superhighway caused uproar among KOT, who demanded the DCI to intervene and take action.

Speaking to the media, police spokesperson Bruno Shioso confirmed the incident stating that it was not a kidnapping, as many Kenyans assumed online.

He clarified that a boyfriend and girlfriend had gotten into an argument after an evening out.

Shioso stated:

“Yes, it happened. But not a kidnapping situation as thought from the clip. It was a boyfriend-girlfriend situation disagreement after a day out. She’s a student at KU and had a scuffle with her boyfriend who wanted her to accompany him for the evening. The clip captured her resisting as he tried to drive off.”

The unidentified lady, a student at Kenyatta University, disagreed with the boyfriend who wanted her to accompany him for the evening.

He went on to say that the video showed the woman resisting her boyfriend’s demands before speeding away down the Thika Superhighway.

According to the police spokesman, the two have chosen to put their differences aside and reunite. He did, however, confirm that proper action would be done in response to the boyfriend’s dangerous behavior.

“They have been with the police today having reconciled. But the act was reckless and put her and other road users in danger. Police will determine appropriate action thereafter.”

UPDATE: Police have arrested the driver of the Probox following the uproar.
