Senior Assistant Inspector General of Police found dead in Machakos

Investigators are looking into the passing of a senior police officer in charge of a crime unit in the Machakos county town of Matuu.

Ezekiel Gitiba Mwita, a Senior Assistant Inspector General of Police, was discovered unconscious in his Matuu town rental home on Friday morning, according to the police.

What killed the person is unknown. The body was taken to the morgue while an autopsy and other processes were completed.

Gitiba was the commandant of the Border Police Patrol Unit, which is key in among others war on terrorism, cross-border crimes, cattle rustling and human smuggling.

He was one of the senior officers in the Administration Police Service.

He had risen the ranks to reach the Assistant Inspector.
