JUST IN: Schools to Reopen on Monday, Gov’t Announces

President William Ruto has given a directive to reopen all schools on Monday, May 13, 2024.

This decision has been made considering the improved weather forecasts, which indicate a decrease in heavy rainfall that had previously caused the delay in school reopening.

Additionally, President Ruto has instructed that funds for the reconstruction of school infrastructure, which was damaged by the heavy rains, should be made available through the National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NG-CDF).

Initially, schools were scheduled to reopen on April 29, 2024, but due to the disruptions caused by the heavy rains, the date was later postponed to May 6, 2024.

However, last week on Friday, President William Ruto directed the Ministry of Education to indefinitely postpone the reopening of all schools due to the flooding crisis caused by the rains.
