Juliana Cherera Criticizes Kenyans for Circulating Her Photos With Azimio Leaders Online, Claims It Is Unfair

Embattled and Controversial Independent Electoral Boundaries Commission (IEBC) commissioner Juliana has responded to the online ridicule and bash she has experienced since she led the other three commissioners, Justus Nyang’aya, Irene Masit, and Francis Wanderi, to disown IEBC chairperson Wafula Chebukati’s presidential results.

Photos of her with Raila Odinga and Hassan Joho, some of the Azimio leaders, have been making rounds on the social media streets, with netizens accusing her of being bribed by the Azimio leaders to disown Chebukati’s results.

Yesterday, the online ridicule went a notch higher after she miscalculated the aggregation of votes when she was explaining why she and the other commissioners had denounced Chebukati’s results.

Well, it seems Juliana can no longer withstand the ridicule.

She took to her Twitter account to denounce people for mocking her. She accused her critics of personalizing issues by sharing photos of her with the Azimio leaders. According to her, it was unfair for Kenyans to perpetuate that she favored the Azimio team when the photos were about different roles she played in the past before joining the IEBC.

She further indicated that the critics and the mockery would not change the embattled commissioners’ allegations that the final results were not credible.

Her tweet read, “My colleagues and I have indicated irregularities in the Presidential tallying process. It is not fair to personalize issues. Photos of me discharging duties in my previous position have nothing to do with the facts we have laid bare.”

On Monday evening, Juliana led the three commissioners in a press briefing to reject Chebukati’s presidential results when Chebukati was at Bomas announcing William Ruto as the winner of the presidential election.

Juliana and her team held another press briefing yesterday to explain that the results were Chebukati’s own doing. She went on to claim that the percentages of the results did not make any mathematical sense as the aggregation added up to 100.01 %. She also accused Chebukati of not involving the commission in critical decision-making, as required by the law.
