Househelp charged with stealing Sh104 million from employer in Langata

A Langata househelp was charged in a Kibera Court on Monday, accused of stealing Sh104 million from her employer’s home.

Shelmith Kiprono alias Jerop has been in police custody since being captured in Eldoret last week.

Only Sh2.5 million of the Sh104 million she reportedly stole was recovered, according to police records.

Samar Al-property Kindy’s included Sh4 million in cash, $806,000 in cash, and Sh4 million in jewelry.

The complainant informed the court through her lawyer, Danstan Omari, that she had been receiving threatening calls since the case began.

She wants the bond terms for the other four co-accused to be revoked.

The other four, who are her accomplices, were granted a Sh7 million bond, according to Omari.

Omari argues that the bond does not tally with the money that was stolen from his client.

He says the first accused Caleb Rasto, who managed to pay the bond, will not show up in court.

Interestingly, Rasto was not in court today and his lawyer has claimed he is admitted to the hospital. The prosecution wants a warrant of arrest issued against Rasto.

Rasto’s lawyer has told the court that his client cannot run away because his co-accused Jackline Kinzi and Eunice Moi are his wives.
