Kenya Kwanza presidential candidate William Ruto presented, on Thursday, unveiled his much-anticipated manifesto, pointing out key policies he would implement if elected in the August 9 presidential race.
Speaking in Nairobi, Ruto vowed to carry out the plan of his Kenya Kwanza coalition. Before a crow of supporters, the Deputy President insisted the policies in the manifesto aimed at achieving “durable growth, while maintaining macroeconomic stability and empowerment of the people at the bottom of the pyramid”.
Today, his main opponent – Raila Odinga has reacted to his agenda, terming it as underwhelming, full of empty promises
In a statement released by his press secretary, Raila described it as ‘slogans, and headshakes’.
According to him, Ruto’s manifesto failed to demonstrate how his government would fight corruption.

“UDA Presidential candidate DP William Ruto launched his much delayed manifesto last night. The only word to describe what the whole nation saw and heard – is underwhelming. The evening was punctuated by empty promises, slogans, and headshakes. The most important issue facing this nation was conspicuously missing from the UDA manifesto. The word corruption was not mentioned and did not cross Mr. Ruto’s lips even once. Like the plague, Mr. Ruto completely avoided any mention of the word. We know why.
Kenya Kwanza is the home of the largest coll!ection of questionable political characters this country has ever seen. Under its large tent reside convicts and suspects of economic crimes and corruption against the people of Kenya. Mr. Ruto himself is a scandal-ridden individual. He has been implicated in many economic crimes and acts of corruption. It is no wonder that Mr. Ruto and Kenya Kwanza have no agenda or plan to address corruption,the number one impediment to the development of our country.
Nothing will ever go forward in this country without slaying the dragon of corruption. This is why, our Azimio candidate the Rt Hon Raila Odinga and his running mate Senior Counsel Martha Karua, have explicitly stated and publicly committed to l!>ring to an end the evil of corruption upon taking office. That is the only way through which Kenya will realize its full potential. There will be zero tolerance for corruption under Azimio and those culpable will be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law without ANY exceptions.
There will be no room at all for any corrupt individual in the Azimio government. This vice is the biggest threat to Kenya and we are determined tio stamp it out, unlike our opponents who do not even dare to utter the word. How can they claim to fight for “hustlers” when they are scared to even mention and name our country’s most important enemy? Kenyans must vote wisely on August 9,and last night was a crystal clear demonstration of why they must resoundingly reject Mr. Ruto and his Kenya Kwanza brigands,” the statement reads.
