WATCH: Eddie Butita takes a private jet to attend a meeting

Eddie Butita, one of Kenya’s and Africa’s top script writers has set the bar higher after taking a private jet to attend a meeting from Mombasa to Nairobi.

Taking to his Twitter account, the comedian bragged about having two meetings which forced him to use a private jet.

“When you have two great meetings you only do private jets, Diani it has been awesome Nairobi see you in a few,” he tweeted.

A few weeks ago, Butita also shocked his fans after he boarded a chopper with his rumoured new girlfriend to attend singer Akothee’s wedding on April 10.

Kenyans criticized him for using the chopper, stating that it was not his wedding. He was forced to turn off the comment section of his social media posts after realizing that there were mixed reactions to the event.

He refuted claims that he tried to outshine Akothee at her wedding by stating that the singer is wealthy and attending her wedding requires one to be outstanding.

He explained that he arrived in a chopper to show her the respect that she deserves and that it would not have been appropriate to use a taxi for such an event.

When asked if he owned the chopper, he responded sarcastically to the bloggers by asking them what they thought about the ownership of the machine.

Jalang’o calls out content creators’ over tax demands

This comes just days after the Lang’ata lawmaker posted a video on his YouTube page saying he had no defence for content creators because they were known for their flashy lifestyles.

In the video, Jalang’o named content creators such as Eric Omondi, Mulamwah, Oga Obinna, Natalie Tewa, Vincent Mboya, Mungai Eve, Njugush, Abel Mutua, Nicholas Kioko, Akothee, Amber Ray, the Bahatis and the Wa Jesus family.

According to Jalang’o, content creators should not “complain” about the 15 per cent tax proposed in the new Finance Bill 2023 because of their flamboyant lifestyles.

“You people have brought this upon yourselves and I won’t lie to you, the government will not relent. What we need to do is to come together and ask ourselves how much are we willing to pay or how do we tell them that maybe sometimes we are just flossing,” he said.

His sentiments come at a time when the Finance Bill is being debated.

The new bill proposes a 15 per cent withholding tax on income generated from digital content.

This has also received mixed reactions from content creators in the country, with the majority opposing it.
