Territory marking? Azziad Nasenya wears matching shoes with CS Namwamba

Earlier this year, TikToker Azziad Nasenya was appointed to the creative Technical Committee by Youth Affairs, Sports and Arts Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba.

The CS formed the co mmittee on February 11 and the members appointed are to serve for a period of three years.

The committee’s mandate includes considering and proposing legislative and policy measures for the growth of sports, supporting the Kenya Academy of Sport (KAS) in running a nationwide program for identifying, developing and marketing Kenya’s best sporting and creative talent.

The committee will also deploy the digital space in talent search, identification, nurturing and exposure and manage the annual bottom-up football tournament for grassroots teams.

Other roles of the committee include aiding the process of Kenya bidding to host top regional, continental and global sports events, advice on the master plan for upgrading sporting facilities and infrastructure countrywide to international standards.

And developing a framework to establish Kenya as a destination of choice for sports tourism under Ministry’s flagship ‘Sports Safari initiative’.

Azziad’s appointment faces backlash

The appointment of Azziad faced backlash after Kenyans on Twitter questioned her competency.

Kileleshwa Member of County Assembly Robert Alai expressed his doubts about her qualification.

According to him, he was not aware of any serious knowledge that the radio host has as far as creative economy and identifying talents are concerned.

“I love and respect Azziad. However, I don’t know her competence. Beyond TikTok dancing, I don’t understand what serious thing she knows about creative economy or even identifying talent,” wrote.

“We have enough Kenyans who know much more about this. I can share some names.,” Alai tweeted.

Since then, KOT have questioned Azziad’s relationship with the CS, with a section claiming the two might be an item and this influenced the appointment.

None of them have refuted nor confirmed the claims.

However, latest photos showing the two wearing matching shoes on separate occasions could be pointing at ‘something’.

Or is it just a coincidence? Kenyans on Twitter think otherwise.
