Goons Invade Uhuru’s Narok Ranch As Police Respond

Police have repulsed an attack on Kedong ranch at the border of Narok East and Naivasha sub-counties.

A joint team of police officers from Narok East was on patrol along Suswa/Mai Mahiu road when it came across armed Maasais planning to invade the 75 000-acre land.

Narok East police commander Jared Marandowe who had deployed anti-riot officers from 6 am in the wake of anti-government protests by Azimio la Umoja leader Raila Odinga managed to avert the situation.

The land in Naivasha constituency goes all the way to Narok East constituency on the west, and Kajiado West constituency on the east. The Mai Maihu-Narok road passes across the land.

The officers are on high alert following widespread looting and destruction of private property witnessed during Monday’s demos.

This is not the first time residents have threatened to forcefully repossess the land which they claim was grabbed under the former administration.

Prominent individuals and business executives are said to have been listed as shareholders.

Meanwhile, Thursday protests remained low keyed with tens of anti-riot police officers patrolling several places to make sure Kenyans carry on with their daily activities without interference by the protesters.

Interior Cabinet Secretary Kindiki Kithure warned Kenyans against taking part in violent protests, saying police would prevent them at all costs adding that all criminals irrespective of the political party or group that they support will be neutered before they destroy Kenya.

“The unfolding situation portends grave danger to the rule of law and the stability of our Country. The violence, looting, destruction of public amenities, disruption of daily activities and invasion of private property portend real and imminent danger of our Country sliding into irretrievable anarchy. These criminal acts must cease” he said.

“No more violent protests shall be allowed anywhere in Kenya. With or without notices, demonstrations and protests of any type which injures people, security officers, businesses and property shall be prevented at all costs” he warned.

On Monday, looters descended on the vast property owned by the family of former Kenya President Uhuru Kenyatta in Kamakis area on the Eastern Bypass of Kiambu County. The gang stole sheep before setting ablaze part of the farm.

The goons also attempted to storm a gas cylinder firm linked to Raila Odinga. Several private entities were destroyed in Kisumu and Migori.

Odinga has maintained that no amount of intimidation will stop their resolve to push for the reduction of the high cost of living, among other concerns.
