DJ Fatxo had a negative influence on Geoffrey Mwathi, according to his family, who questions why he was ever with him.

“If they had to work, why not just drop him home afterwards instead of clubhopping? Si alimfunza tabia mbaya (he was a bad influence on him),” she posed.

According to the woman, she lived with the boy for a long time as his mother was away in Qatar working and he was always quick to apologise whenever he was wrong.

“We just want to know what he did to them that angered them so much to do that to him,” she posed.

Hannah Wacuka, Mwathi’s mum, echoed his grandmother’s sentiments saying he was a humble boy.

“I am asking for justice. He called me and said that my friend DJ Fatxo has called me and we have met. I called him and asked if he had gone back home and he said he was waiting for his friend to drop him,” she revealed.

The two talked several times until his phone went off, and afterwards, Wacuka got the news that her dear son was no more.

“My question to DJ Fatxo is what happened because you were with this boy from 3 pm to 3 am,” she asked.

“There is a delay in investigations because we were at Kasarani and they said we should continue with burial pans and leave them to investigate the case. Up to now, there hasn’t been much progress,” she added.

On his part, another relative, Peter Ngungi Kirumba, said he never thought that Mwathi could lose his life in such a manner.

“The nature of his death made us very sad. As a family, we have really tried looking for justice for these kids. We are appealing to DCI Kasarani to speed up the investigations to know the truth,” he said.

“If these people are allowed to roam around they will continue to kill other kids,” he added.
Mwathi was to go abroad for further studies, and the family denied that he was planning to take his life in 2019.

On March 8, eyebrows were raised over a post on DJ Fatxo’s Facebook page one day before news spread that Mwathi died while visiting him

“Leo nimeona niwakumbushe the wages of sin is death,” he wrote on Facebook, accompanied by a photo of himself singing into a microphone.
Mwathi tumbled to his death from DJ Fatxo’s 10th-floor apartment located along Thika Road after spending the day with the disc jockey.
