David Moya: How I Started My Career in Dancing, Making it On TikTok
David Moya, a content creator and dancer, is well-liked among Tik Tok users, having carved out a niche for himself in the enormous entertainment business.
The dancer posts clips of herself dancing with a variety of people, including fruit and vegetable vendors, matatu operators, and police officers, among others.
Moya is well-known for the way he approaches his ‘prey’. He has a habit of approaching people and cheering them up with his distinctive dancing commercial.
On Tik Tok, he has more than 2.1 million followers and 23.6 million likes.
Moya claimed he started professional dance and content creation in 2018 after moving to Nairobi from Mai Mahiu, where he grew up, in an interview with Radio Maisha.

Dance is his love, according to the Journalism and Public Relations graduate, who began dancing when he was eight or nine years old.
“I tried to give other professions a chance, but my heart called to dance. There is a point when I vowed not to dance again and instead focus on my budding journalism career. In time, I however realised that the money to be made was actually in dance. That’s how I stuck to it,” Moya said.
Moya has also made money off of his dance abilities, appearing in various music videos by local artists. He also manages a dancing academy where aspiring dancers are trained.
“I’ve taken on many dancing jobs in the local scene, appearing in music videos for Nameless, Khaligraph and many others. I’ve performed on big stages internationally and locally,” he said.
The dancer, who is paid to surprise individuals on special occasions like anniversaries, described how a client went out of his way to hire him in an Instagram post.
His client, according to Moya, had booked a ticket for him to surprise his wife on her birthday.
“Her husband booked me a flight to do a birthday surprise for his wife…” He captioned a video in which he was seen going on one knee and giving the lady with a bouquet of flowers and chocolates before dancing his distinctive routines, saying, “She wasn’t expecting this at all.”
Moya also mentioned that his sassy antics have landed him into a lot of problems in the past.
“It was back when I was doing martial arts skits. This time, my crew and I went to Amboseli, and it seems we messed with the wrong ones when we tried to prank the Maasai traders
“Our aim was to deliver content but those guys could not get the joke. At first all was well, but when I took one of the Maasai’s men’s goods intended for sale and threw them on the ground, his friends quickly joined him to confront me,” he said.
