“Let’s go, apologize and congratulate Ruto” – Gospel artist Joyce Lay urges Azimio supporters

Former Taita Taveta Women Representative and gospel artist Joyce Lay has urged Raila Odinga supporters to join hands and support William Ruto’s government after losing the election.

Taking to her Twitter account, Lay asked the Azimio supporters to gather, apologize and extend loyalty to the new president.

“If you were in AZIMIO and ready to work with the President H. E William Ruto let’s gather. Take advantage of the grace, that he has extended to us. If you want to support him, pls join me to go congratulate him, and also ask for forgiveness and confirm our loyalty. Pls inbox.”

“Thank you for all the phone calls and inbox messages, that I have received from across the nation, of people who are willing to bring reconciliation and unity in this country. We cannot move on divided as a nation and realize good development.”

The forgiveness part cannot be ignored, when bringing two different parties together….and it’s not based on apologizing because we supported Hon. Raila……No! After all the attacks and insults that takes during campaigns, people get bruised and when one side loses there’s bitterness and anger…so it’s normal to say “Tusameheane, tusahau yaliopita alafu tufanye kazi pamoja…Keep on sending your names, forget the noise!”

However, this did not sit well with some of her followers.

Here are some of the reactions:

@Sereti Tonkei: Forgiveness? Seriously? Isn’t Kenya a democratic state where people vote for their party and leaders of choice? Does working together involve asking for forgiveness for exercising your democratic right. Wow!

@Tsumah_ndolo: The problem of reasoning in mother tongue and trying to express in English, there’s nothing to be sorry about exercising ones democratic right. 🤣🤣🤣

@Moha001_Onyango: I honestly don’t understand why someone should go and ask for forgiveness from a politician because of the political stand they took. Are we in the dark days where we must kneel before the President, sing hosanna for us to get recognition and development?

@FauzKhalid: Forgiveness for what?

@PharaohMenya: What grace? Do u understand democracy? No one is entitled to any position, they’re privileged to serve and will leave it for the next person. It’s no one’s property or birthright. Leaders should express gratitude for the opportunity, not vice versa. It’s 2022, not 1982

@harriet86jim: What forgiveness and grace? I think every kenyan voted for whichever leader based on the policies they sold and any president should give services on the premise of the taxes being paid and not becaude of our friendliness. Support doesn’t mean sycophancy and bootlicking.

@BHNyende: People are so hopeless & desperate.. This one is asking us to inbox her to seek forgiveness from uliam 😆😆😆🤣🤣.. Earth really hard
