Hellen Wendy’s boyfriend recalls their last conversation few minutes before death

The final minutes Hellen Wendy and her boyfriend Alphonce Nyamwaya spent together before she drowned in a Canadian swimming pool have been made public.

Before she left for a swim after work, Alphonce said the two had chatted on the phone.

“I was preparing myself for the afternoon shift when she gave me a video call. She told me she was headed to the swimming pool to relax after completing her morning shift. She inquired whether I had eaten before we said goodbye to each other,” he revealed to the Nation.

After many Kenyans questioned how she spent more than three hours by herself in the pool, he also told the media that the pool was on private property.

Her father, John Nyabuto, finally spoke out in response to rumors that the deceased had foretold her demise.

Mr. Nyabuto denied the claims that his daughter foretold her demise and asked Kenyans to disregard the hoaxes spreading on social media.

The devastated father claimed in an interview with The Standard that she never revealed any signs of sorrow.

“I hear some people claiming she had said on WhatsApp that she would soon die in Canada. As her father, she never shared with me any information that suggested she was in distress or any form of trouble,” Nyabuto stated.

On the evening of Thursday, August 18, Nyabuto claimed he received a text message informing him of the passing of his daughter.

He learned Wendy had drowned in a pool from the text that one of the deceased’s friends had sent.

A short while later, Canadian authorities called Nyabuto to let him know Wendy had been taken to the hospital and was being treated, but they did not immediately let him know why his daughter was there.

How the drowning video of Hellen Wendy was shared on social media
Once he learned that the video had become popular, he went on to social media.

After obtaining a 10-year study VISA in 2019, the deceased moved to Canada and was enjoying himself until tragedy struck.

Wendy repeatedly dove under the water with her phone recording, periodically coming up for air to read the comments on the live video that her fans on social media were watching.

At 10 minutes and 33 seconds, she made what would be her final plunge, screaming and kicking for aid while gasping for oxygen and making gurgling noises.

She made her final sound shortly after, and the water stayed still for the duration of the three hours that the film was being recorded.
