PHOTOS: Good News For Kenyans As Uhuru Park Is Set To Be Reopened This Month

After nearly a year of closure, Nairobi residents will soon have access to the famous Central Park and Uhuru Park.

According to a source at Nairobi Metropolitan Services (NMS), the two parks would reopen this month after getting significant facelifts since September 2021.

Citizen Digital received exclusive images of the refurbishment, which show a park that has been completely transformed.

Nairobi Metropolitan Services (NMS) has created a master plan that envisions Uhuru Park’s new appearance as a contemporary garden with waterfronts.

A plant nursery, skating rink, nature walk, outdoor library, jogging and cycling paths, a maintenance yard, offices, and a shearer garden will be among the attractions offered by the green areas.

Additionally, it will have a number of restaurants and luxury hotels. In honor of Prof. Wangari Maathai, the landmark Nyayo statue, Mau Mau liberation fighter memorials, and a more clearly defined freedom corner have all been preserved.

Two gates on each of the fenced-in parks are continuously monitored by General Service Unit (GSU) officers.

The park’s restoration is nearly complete, and President Uhuru Kenyatta is scheduled to preside over its reopening before he leaves office in August.

After the Nairobi County Assembly on September 28, 2021, accepted the decision to give the park a much-needed facelift, the parks were closed the previous year.
