Eric Omondi rescues 5 mothers detained over unpaid hospital bill at Pumwani Maternity

Comedian Eric Omondi has come to the rescue of five women who were detained at Pumwani Maternity Hospital for failing to pay their hospital fees, after delivery.

According to reports, five patients at Pumwani Maternity were being held up by unpaid hospital fees. After giving delivery, they were all in good health and prepared to return home.

In an interview, Eric mentioned that some of the people housed there have medical expenses totaling between Sh 2,000 and Sh 3,000.

The comedian urged President William Ruto and his deputy, Rigathi Gachagua, to intervene and order the release of other women who were being held in hospitals all around the nation.

The comedian-turned-activist pleaded with the government to assist and make the situation a priority in an Instagram post.

He strongly criticized the government for the creation of more jobs for well-off people giving an example of Kidero.

“We have released 5 New Mothers who had been detained at Pumwani Maternity. Mr. President before you pay 50 CACs Sillions of Shillings before the Government buys brand new cars for the Executive, PLEASE make an order for all Mothers detained at Pumwani and across the country to be released.”

Adding:

“Ulisema Serikali ni ya Mama mboga na Boda Boda. Watu wa boda boda wako Jela na mama mboga amefungiwa Pumwani.”

Few days ago, Eric Omondi also bailed out a Boda Boda guy who was fined KSh 25000 after he was arrested for trespassing.

In a video shared on YouTube by Vincent Mboya, the motorist can be seen talking about his plight where he revealed that his mum and dad parted ways years ago and he’s the family’s breadwinner.

He shared that the little he gets from his work he takes home to his wife and that he couldn’t see a way out after he was mistakenly arrested and fined.

When Eric shared that he not only paid his fine but also bought him shopping to take home to his wife, he broke down while thanking him for his generosity.

Eric was accompanied by friends among them travel company Spoton Vacation CEO dDD who also chipped in doing shopping for the motorist.

“Nimepitia maisha ngumu. Mamangu na baba waliachana miaka kumi iliopita. Yule mtoto mdogo wakaachai mama yangu. Mimi nahustle ndio mamangu aweze kusomesha huy mtoto mdogo. aomba mbarikiwe na mzidishiwe pia. Pia mimi mniombee nibarikiwe niweze kusaidia familia,” he said as he wiped his tears.

He not only paid KSh 25000 fine but also did his shopping worth KSh 15,000 and paid for his Uber ride to Ngong Road.

The comedian also recently caught the attention of Kenyans with his protests against the government over the high cost of living.

The funnyman made a stopover at a petrol station where he paid for fuel for the riders who brought business at the energy station to a standstill.

The riders happily haggled to be served first as the petrol station attendant attempted to make the riders queue for fast services.
