Caroline Mutoko Under Fire For Claiming Matatus Should Not be allowed On Nairobi Expressway

Media personality Caroline Mutoko has faced the wrath of Kenyans on Twitter (KOT), after questioning why matatus are allowed to use Nairobi Expressway.

The journalist was replying to an accident that happened last night at the expressway. According to her, allowing matatus will cause more trouble on the new road.

“Wait ✋we now have Matatus on the expressway? Courting trouble….” Mutoko wondered

However, this didn’t sit well with maturity of Kenyans who felt this was an insult against the poor Kenyans who use matatus.

Here are some of the reactions from Kenyans:

Billy The GOAT: Imagine, I saw that and I was like what is going on with our country, Matatus on the highway? Anyways, nowadays I commute via my chopper, I hate Vawulence

mwalim_jini: Unless they are exempted, I don’t see why not But I hear there is a plan to build a super expressway on top of the existing one For people who don’t like matatus

Propesaa: We should blame the driver for bad driving not the whole matatu industry. The other day there was an accident hapo tu, was it a matatu?

Marvin Gakunyi: According to a Gazette Notice dated December 31, 2020, only motorcycles, tuk tuks, wheelbarrows, handcarts, bicycles and scooters are not allowed to access the expressway.

Jeff Kinyanjui: Was the road designed for the privileged few? This kind of thinking is exactly why the transport system is a mess in Kenya. We should be thinking of moving the masses effectively and securely not just those with private cars

Naeku Edith: Why should there be discrimination of who has to use the expressway, as long as you can pay? The real question should be,what caused that to happen? Accidents do happen whether you use a matatu or not! Just the other day there was an accident and it did not involve a matatu!!

Catherine Mutuku: So express way was constructed for specific class of vehicles, mtaacha kubeba wakenya wenzenu kama maembe when, msccccwh

Mwendia Ungu Eng: Yes alien. You know matatu drivers and conductors and users are Kenyans, who pay their taxes as any Kenyan does. I know this will surprise you. Hanging out with the big boys, if they die they die, makes you think that they own the country and no one else has a right to way!
