Kenyan Woman Weds Man She Met on Facebook: “Happy Sabbath”

A Kenyan woman is overjoyed after a man who slipped into her DM to wish her a happy Sabbath weds her in a colorful ceremony.

Last weekend, Lynder Cherono and Brian exchanged vows in a colorful ceremony.

Lynder Cherono and Brian Kigen exchanged vows in a lavish wedding ceremony attended by their families and friends to commemorate their love and friendship.

In an interview with TUKO, Cherono said their love story started in 2017 with a simple ‘happy Sabbath’ message.

“We became Facebook friends with Brian Kigen on February 14, 2017. For the next five months, I followed and enjoyed what he used to post on his timeline,” she said.

The woman claimed she enjoyed Kigen’s posts since they always touched on her hobbies, and these shared interests were the driving force behind Kigen’s decision to break the ice one day.

“One Saturday, I found this ‘happy Sabbath’ message from him sent at 10:03 am. I replied late but he kept the conversation interesting,” she recounted.

Kigen kept Cherono engaged with his Messenger conversations in the days that followed. Cherono was so enamored with him that she gave him her phone number without asking.

“He could call me for three hours just vibing me. Having been single for some time, this was a whole revolution for me,” Cherono said.

They’d keep talking and phoning each other until later that year, when they finally met for their first date.

Cherono described their first date as “basic” because they merely listened to music together, but it was a special occasion for the lovers to finally meet in person after months of virtual love.

Kigen has not only become Cherono’s partner since then, but also her biggest supporter and inspiration to pursue her aspirations.

He pushed her to establish her business and to go back to school to take her CPA studies in 2021, she said.

“All through, he supported and motivated me to go for greatness. I am happy to say I am Certified Public Accountant!” she noted.

The newlywed woman stated that it was obvious that 2022 was their year to marry, which is why they married; she also reminded Kenyans not to be afraid of finding love online.

“Just don’t rush, study their energy and intentions. If you feel like you can be compatible, why not give it a try?” she said.

From everyone at Mkenya Leo, we wish the couple happiness and love for the rest of their union.
