Comedian, now-turned politician, Jalang’o surprised many over the weekend when he revealed that he had forgiven his ex-employees who stole his Ksh 1 million cash.

He even claimed that he was willing to re-employ them if they surrendered to the police.

While many people lauded the comedian for being kind, a section of netizens bashed him, claiming he was chasing clout. They accused Jalang’o of using the theft incident to earn himself sympathy votes that will benefit his aspirations of winning the Lang’ata member of parliament (MP) seat.

Jalas, as many people call him, has come out to defend himself.

Speaking with Mungai Eve, Jalas claimed that he would never chase clout with something as serious as accusing people of theft.

According to him, Eli and Litiema had betrayed him by stealing from him; thus, he wanted justice to be served and not chasing clout.

I heard people saying that am clout chasing, these are people who even my children know, that is the last thing I will ever do, and if you know me that is something I will never do,” he explained to Mungai Eve.

He proceeded to say, “there is nothing like sympathy votes, it is true Eli and Litiema stole money from my house and ran with their families and it has been reported to even the DCI.”

He recounted how Eli and Litiema had stolen the money that was in the car they were to wash. He only realized that they has stolen the money hours later when he wanted to use it, and they were nowhere to be seen.

Jalas reported that Eli and Litiema had disappeared with their families.

In a previous phone interview with Milele FM, Jalas revealed that he was hurt by the betrayal as he trusted and treated Eli and Litiema as his brothers.

Other celebrities who have come out to rebuke the ex-employees include Alex Mwakideu and Oga Obinna, who knew Eli and Litiema personally.
