“Lipa, Raila Must Pay” – Andrew Kibe Tells Raila To Pay For Sauti Sol’s Song

Former Kiss Presenter Andrew Kibe has asked ODM leader Raila Odinga to pay Sauti Sol for using their song without permission.

“Mko campaign na mnatumia ngoma…pesa mtalipa, mpende msipende..hata kama wewe ni my preferred presidential candidate, utalipa” he said on his YouTube channel.

Yesterday, Bien Baraza, the lead singer of Sauti Sol, also stated that they will not give up the copyright infringement dispute with Raila Odinga.

When Raila was introducing Martha Karua as his running companion, he played their Extravaganza song, which sparked a feud.

Bien remarked in an interview with Milele FM’s Ankaly Ray that he has no problem with the politician asserting his right to profit from their labor.

“I have no problem with Raila. I’m just trying to be professional here. I won’t allow anyone to use my songs for his or her personal gain. Raila is not paying my rent or he won’t pay my 50 workers at the end of the month,” he said.

When asked how much money he will quote if the court rules in their favor, he stated the decision would be made by his counsel.

In addition,

“I am expecting something big. It can be even one billion.”

After copyright infringement claims, ODM reacted to Sauti Sol praising them in a separate piece after the group threatened to sue Azimio la Umoja for using their Extravaganza song at their event.

On Twitter, the Party complimented Sauti Sol for flying the country’s flag so high, explaining that playing their song was a show of support for their efforts.

“We would like to assure our celebrated musical team @sautisol that we love them and appreciate their music so much. The group has carried our country’s flag so high in international fora and every Kenyan appreciates this. Playing their song yesterday was a show of love for their work,” they wrote
