Singer Sammy Boy Opens Up On His Life Imprisonment: “I Am Innocent”

Popular Kikuyu singer Sammy Boy, known for his hit song No Ira Tu has opened up about his life in prison.

Sammy was sentenced to life imprisonment in 2021 after years of a court case in which he could not prove his innocence.

The gospel musician told Inooro TV that his problems began when a close friend left some belongings in his residence so that he could look after them.

Later, he realized the commodities entrusted to his care were stolen, and he began a lengthy and torturous trip with the law in which he was unable to defend his innocence, resulting in his conviction.

“My friend, a family friend actually, left the goods in my house. There were several phones and other items. I was arrested because the goods were found in my care and they had been stolen from a foreigner in Gilgil,” he said adding this was in 2015.

“There were laptops, phones, household items like gas cylinders and though I wondered why
he had such items, I could not have suspected that they were stolen,” he added.

Unfortunately, Sammy’s companion perished in a car accident, putting a stop to the one chance he had to prove his innocence.

Since his incarceration, the musician-turned-prisoner claims he has lost everything, including his wife and mother of one kid.

He’s been in jail for a few months, where he’ll serve a life sentence, and his misery has broken many people’s hearts.

Sammy claims that his problems began when he agreed to entertain a trusted country friend who arrived with a piece of luggage.

He didn’t bother inquiring about the things’ whereabouts because he was just hosting the person for a few days.

Unbeknownst to him, the luggage in his leased property included stolen goods, which officials quickly tracked down, resulting to his arrest.
