Sio ukweli! PSC denies Jackie Maribe’s appointment to Gov’t

Public Service Commission has not appointed former Royal Media journalist Jackie Maribe as head of communication in the ministry of Public Service, Performance and Delivery Management, according to a new press release.

Contrary to social media posts attributed to Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria, PSC chairperson Anthony Muchiri clarified that no such appointment has been made, neither has a request to employ her been received by the board.

“For the record, the said position will be filled through a competitive recruitment process should a vacancy arise,” he said.

Mr Kuria is quoted to have said that “it is true except that I am not the one who appointed her but the Public Service Commission”.

Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria heads the Ministry.

The reports of appointment comes weeks after she was acquitted in Monica Kimani’s murder case which had gone on for almost six years.

Digital strategist Dennis Itumbi, who stood with Maribe while embroiled in the case, congratulated her on the new role.

“Congratulations, Jacque Maribe. May God bless you as you serve Asante @HonMoses_Kuria for standing with a generation, please keep doing good and stretching your hand,” he said.

Maribe was acquitted in the Monica Kimani murder case on February 9, 2024, by Justice Grace Nzioka of the Milimani Law Courts on Friday, over lack of evidence.

According to Justice Nzioka, the charge brought against Maribe was not properly placed.

“It is my considered view that the charge brought against the second accused person was not the proper charge,” she said.

In 2009, Maribe became a senior Political Reporter at K24 TV and worked until 2011 when he left for Citizen TV.
