KeNHA confirms Mai Mahiu-Narok road to will reopen on Tuesday

The Mai Mahiu-Narok Highway is anticipated to open by the end of Tuesday, drivers have been informed.

Due to a fault line that formed after heavy rains, the road was declared unfit for use and closed on Sunday.

However, the Kenya National Highways Authority said in a statement on Monday that repair work is well underway at the location where the fault line first appeared, about six kilometers from Mai Mahiu Town on the route to Narok.

The road’s prior development of a fault line rendered it impassable for a number of days.

“The team on site has been instructed to work day and night to ensure that the road is open to traffic as soon as possible,” KeNHA said.

The authority further mentioned that Kungu Ndungu, director general of KeNHA, and PS for Roads, Joseph Mbugua, both attended the scene.

Based on the evaluation, they guaranteed that by May 2 if the rate of repair work holds, the road should be reopened.

For the sake of the general public’s safety and to facilitate quick repairs, the Ministry of Roads issued an order on Sunday to close the route.

In appreciation for the public’s tolerance, KeNHA urged Kenyans to drive carefully during this rainy season.
