Elsa Majimbo, a Kenyan comedian living in the United States, has opened up about her breakup with her Mzungu boyfriend following Coachella last year.
While recounting an experience from a few months prior, Majimbo revealed the information. The comedian claimed that she was disrespected when a man touched her indecently while she was getting ready for a panel discussion to which she had been invited.
Majimbo says the incident made her angry, to the point where she had to tell her boyfriend what had happened.
“I flew to Miami because I was speaking to a panel conversation because I was one of the speakers.. so if you have ever been miced up, it always on something that can hold and I was wearing address and it was strapless and so the mic could not hold.
So we were trying to figure out a solution and the guy was like, you can mic it up on your underwear.
So he took me to a private room and he lifted my dress, coz I thought he gonna leave me and go. He goes ahead a lifts my dress,”

She revealed that she had to break up with him because of his response to the entire thing, and she hasn’t spoken to him since.
“After the panel is done, I’m angry and storming to my room. So the first person I called was my boyfriend and I told him this and this happened with this guy.
And the best thing he says is like ‘Do you think’, maybe you were flirting with him and that’s why he behaved that way.
Immediately he said that I was going to hang up his phone and you would never hear from me again, see me again, or get a chance to smell me again.
It would be like I never existed and I hang up the phone and true to my word, he has never to this day heard from me,” Elsa Majimbo explained.
In 2022, Elsa introduced Los Angeles based DJ Hkeem, as her boyfriend.
In the photos, the pair looked happy as they enjoyed each other’s company and Majimbo could not stop gushing at the love of her life.
“To my darling love…thank you for bringing me so much happiness, love, joy. Thank you for showing me what love looks like.
“Thank you for doing my hair and playing chess with me and buying me things (my favorite) I love you so much,” she wrote.
Elsa Majimbo’s past relationship in Kenya
Although she is a big name outside Kenya, Majimbo has a rather complicated relationship with her motherland and in a previous interview, she told Forbes that Kenyans have never really appreciated her craft.
“I have a very complicated relationship with Nairobi. When things started going on well for me there was a lot of backlash to me and there were a lot of colorist things said towards me and surprisingly it’s people from Kenya who were doing that and they were bullying me on the internet,” said Majimbo.
For this reason, she vowed never to return to Kenya unless she’s visiting her parents.
“They were hell-bent on my failure and it was so absurd. When the whole world was cheering me on Kenya was praying for my downfall so when I got the chance I packed my bags and I left. I’ll go to see my family but I left and I’m never going back,” she told Forbes.
However, this is not the first time that Majimbo has addressed being bullied by Kenyans. In May 2021, in an interview with Dubai’s Anash Bukhash, Majimbo said she had faced a lot of bullying and racism in Nairobi since high school.
“I have faced a lot of bullying in Nairobi and when I say bullying people only think about the internet, but it has been my whole life. At the university, I chose my friends and the company I was in and it got easier,” she recalled.
