The body of the missing hairstylist, who went missing a fortnight ago, was discovered in a pit latrine in the Mlolongo neighborhood, just a few kilometers from her workspace.

The rotting body of Jane Mwende Mwanzia, 29, was discovered after the suspects led police to the spot.

The individuals arrested last week in connection with Mwende’s disappearance had previously led authorities to a Magongo woodland in Makueni County’s Wote district.

The suspects would then adjust the narrative that led the police to Kiserian before exposing the true spot where Mwende’s death was located in Mlolongo, in a dramatic turn of events.

Family, friends and colleagues of Mwende have been frantically and relentlessly searching for the 29-year-old since she disappeared a fortnight ago—they have been to numerous police stations, hospitals and even to morgues without success.

Jane Mwende is said to have received a phone call early on the morning of Friday, August 25th from a person posing as a client in need of her hairdressing services at their home. She left never to return.

“She received a phone call and after leaving, she has never returned to work,” recounts Winnie Munyau, a hairdresser at the salon.

“She left the salon but did not say where she heading to. She just picked her phone and left…” added Jennifer Mwende who also works at the salon.

Concerns escalated when Jane failed to report to work the following day. Her phone remained switched off.

Jane’s disappearance became apparent when she failed to pick up her child from her Yatta home in Machakos after the August holiday.

Police officers at the Mlolongo Police Station are now exploring a potential connection between Jane’s disappearance and a love triangle as well as her involvement in the real estate business.

It is alleged that Jane and another woman in mlolongo town, have been in a dispute involving a man who has already been questioned by the police. Interestingly, the other lady has never been seen in Mlolongo town since Jane’s disappearance.
