Another student dies after allegedly ‘falling’ from roof of building in Kasarani

A family from Meru county is demanding justice after their 23-year-old son passed away under mysterious circumstances in Kasarani.

It is still unknown whether Blair Muthoni killed himself or was pushed when he allegedly plummeted to his death a few days ago from the top of a residential building.

A foreman at the nearby building under construction where Muthomi fell revealed in a news interview that the morning he discovered the body, he had allowed the builders to continue their work but that something strange had happened.

A concerned-looking roommate of Muthomi’s followed him. The roommate went to Muthomi’s remains a short while afterwards.

“The roommate came to me and tried saying something but I could not hear him. He then went to where the body was and started looking at it. I asked him, ‘is that a human body?’ He didn’t respond to me, but he was there touching his body on his hands and stomach,” the foreman, one James Macharia said.

The two roommates have already been taken into prison by police at the Kasarani police station after being identified as persons of interest in the investigation.

The family in Meru, where the Mechanical Engineering student is from, is suffering terribly and has not yet found comfort in the passing of a loved one.

His mother said he was a trustworthy son and brother. In a three-person family, he was the firstborn.

“This is so painful. I am yet to break the news of his death to his siblings. We just want to know what happened to Blair,” she said.

The family wants answers into how their kin fell into his death especially coming at a time whe23-year-old Jeff Mwathi also fell into his death along Thika Road, a case that the Kasarani Police Station also handled but recently handed over to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations.

“We were to have a graduation for him so that he could continue with his education, but that has been cut short, and we do not know what exactly happened to him. The police are still investigating what happened to him,” Muthomi’s father said.

An autopsy revealed that the student had suffered abdominal wounds associated with a fall, which is why he died.
