KRG the Don Explains why he brags with bundles of cash on social media

Karuga Kimani, popularly known as KRG The Don, caused a stir when he openly flashed wads of cash in a car.

Several individuals, notably Kileleshwa MCA Robert Alai, criticised the KRG’s conduct, while others petitioned the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) to pursue the musician.

The taxman was eager to go after KRG after netizens attracted their attention to a video of the artist flashing a lot of cash.

KRA posted the Bible verse Mark 12:17 (And Jesus answered and said to them, “Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.” And they marveled at Him) and said the message should get to the musician.

“Mark 12:17. Ifikie KRG ^KT,” KRA tweeted.

Adding; “Mambo imechemka! 🎶 ^KT”
Tax compliant

KRG said he was not shaken by KRA’s interest in his wealth, insisting that he is a tax-compliant citizen.

“We have people who came to town to look for money and those who came to work, mark the difference. The good thing is, I pay taxes and so I am not worried about anyone tagging KRA people, they know I pay taxes,” KRG said in an interview with Nairobi News.

The musician added that he flaunted the cash to send a message to the world that Kenyan artistes are stinking rich, noting that bragging and showing off wealth is part of the showbiz culture across the globe.

“All artistes do that. It is part of our branding and showing off money is just a way of also telling other countries that Kenyan artistes have money,” he said.
