Good samaritan from Mombasa sends 14 pairs of trousers, 8 shirts to elderly Marakwet man

A photo of a frail-looking man wearing tattered clothes while addressing governor Alex Tolgos’s campaign meeting has been making rounds on social media platforms for the last few days.

When the photo surfaced online, many Kenyans’ hearts were heartbroken after noting the pitiable condition of the elderly man who was campaigning for Tolgos.

Netizens tried urging the politician to change the old man’s life as he was campaigning for him, but as of the time of writing this report, the governor had not shared anything on his social media handles concerning the matter.

However, after Elgeyo Marawet senator Kipchumba Murkomen saw John Kiplagat Chebii’s photo, he deployed his people to the man’s home with some goodies.

According to Murkomen, he was approached by a team which informed him about the man’s condition, forcing him to take action. The lawmaker, then, bought the old man and his wife new outfits and other goodies.

“A team of my friends who were touched by a photo of Mzee John Chebii aka Full Time shared by Elgeyo Marakwet Governor Alex Tolgos approached me to support them to improve the welfare of the Mzee and his family. This morning the team visited the family with a little support,” he said.

Since then, more Kenyans have come out to support the elderly man with different goodies.

Yesterday, a businesswoman from Mombasa sent a parcel containing 14 pairs of trousers and eight shirts.

Breaking the news, Philanthropist and police officer Sammy Ngare Ondimu confirmed that they had received various items from Lizzina Mwaka, who runs her business that sells men’s clothes in Mombasa.

Another friend of the officer called Ruth Macharia, a sports massage therapist and sports injuries specialist, sent a mattress for the elderly man.

“Wengi pia wamenitumia cash kwa my number pesa ambazo zitaenda kwa matumizi ya food, Others have also sent money to my number. It will be used to buy food),” he said.

The officer is also mobilising people to construct a house for the man. According to him, senator Donald B. Kipkorir is the one in charge of the construction, which will start soon…

“God bless everyone who has ensured Mzee has received, clothes, matress, a house and even food,” he added.
