CCTV footage reveals chilling details of robbers shooting MPesa traders in Nairobi

Two armed robbers killed two sellers at the busy Adams Market in Woodley, Nairobi county, according to police.

Traders Sophia Gathoni and Paul Githingi were shot and killed by miscreants who were targeting M-Pesa outlets on Saturday, June 11.

Gathoni was about to close her shop at around 7 p.m. when a man walked in demanding cigarettes, according to terrifying CCTV footage obtained by Mkenyaleo.co.ke.

He, on the other hand, was on a different mission. When Gathoni, 53, entered the business, he confronted her and brandished a revolver at her before shooting her.

The robber’s accomplice tries to push his way into the shop, as seen in the video, but she fights him off.

During the battle, the thief shot her for the fourth time, and she collapsed, howling in anguish.

Concerned traders raced to her shop in an attempt to save her.

Githinji, on the other hand, was shot just a few meters from Gathoni’s business.

The man was responding to the lady’s distress call.

They were taken to Nairobi Women’s Hospital by ambulance. Githinji, unfortunately, died a few hours later.

On Tuesday, June 12, Gathoni was brought to the Intensive Care Unit, where she died from gunshot wounds.
