Gachagua claims Lee Kinyanjui is Moi’s son, asks him to apologize on behalf of his father

Rigathi Gachagua, a running partner for Kenya Kwanza, has recently asserted that late President Daniel Arap Moi’s son Lee Kinyanjui is the governor of Nakuru.

Speaking in Molo, Nakuru county on Friday, Gachagua defended himself by stating that, in contrast to assertions made by some leaders that he was the DO when riots in Molo occurred in the 1990s, he has never worked in Molo.

Since Lee’s father served as president at the time of the Molo clashes, Gachagua suggested that Lee apologize on his father’s behalf. He went on to say that he did nothing wrong and should not apologize.

“I can’t apologise because we did nothing wrong. It’s you Lee Kinyanjui who must apologise for the crimes perpetrated by your father who served as president and commander-in-chief when Molo residents suffered,” Gachagua said.

Following Kinyanjui’s request for Gachagua to apologize to the Molo residents, Gachagua made the claims.

In a statement on June 21, Kinyanjui had claimed that survivors of his time as a district officer in Molo had asked him for an apology, among other things.

“During the tour, several suggestions have been raised by members of the public. Your kind consideration will be greatly appreciated. The first is a ‘public apology’ to the people of Molo for the commissions and omissions during his tenure as the dreaded DO,” he said

“You can take the opportunity to assure them that you have since changed. This is a modest request from the survivors.”
