William Ruto Breaks silence for the first time since tallying of votes started

William Ruto, the deputy president, has informed elected women leaders that the hustler nation depends on them.

The DP expressed congratulations and best wishes for them as they take on their new responsibilities in a statement on Saturday.

He also expressed his gratitude to all of the leaders who had won all five election positions.

“Congratulations to all election winners. In particular, we celebrate the many women who have broken barriers to climb the political ladder. Best wishes as you embark on your new responsibilities. Hustlers are counting on you,” Ruto said in a tweet.

The DP’s party, United Democratic Alliance, has put up a stellar performance that has seen it bag a number of seats in central and the Rift Valley regions.

At least seven female candidates have bagged gubernatorial positions. Among them, four are from UDA, one from Wiper, another ODM and an Independent.
