Musician Bahati Removed From Podium During Azimio Rally

Mathare MP aspirant Kevin Kioko Bahati has faced another setback after being removed fro m the podium during the Azimio la Umoja one Kenya Coalition in Nairobi.

On Sunday, July 3, when Bahati attempted to request a time to speak, he was pushed away from the podium by fellow Azimio officials. Bahati is running for the Mathare MP seat.

The Jubilee candidate for governor of Nairobi, Polycarp Igathe, and ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna were among the Azimio leaders that attended the gathering.

Even though his name wasn’t on the list of speakers for that event, Bahati had tried to prepare himself to speak.

Since he was causing confusion at the gathering and waving to the crowd while another leader spoke as a result, the leaders had to eject him from the podium.

In the video seen by Mkenyaleo.co.ke, the musician is surrounded by his fans, who were grumbling and demanding that he be given the opportunity to speak as well.

In a separate story, the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance team had chosen Anthony Oluoch as their favored candidate, putting an end to Bahati’s Mathare parliamentary campaign.

Bahati, who was chosen by the Jubilee Party to run for the position, will ostensibly give up his desire to become a member of parliament in favor of Oluoch, who was chosen at a joint conference of ODM and Jubilee delegates.

Sifuna claimed in a statement on Monday, June 27, that Bahati will still leave the Mathare race with something because if Azimio wins the elections on August 9, he will land a lucrative position.

He claimed that Mathare was designated an ODM zone in accordance with the agreement made at the delegate’s meeting earlier today.
