Hey beautiful Kenyans, you know we now have about 30 days to the August 9 General elections. It is everyone’s wish and prayer that Kenyan hold peaceful, free and fair elections.

Like it always said – elections come and go, but Kenya will always remain. Whichever politician you are supporting, let’s put Kenya first.

For this reason, we have compiled a list of 10 patriotic songs to listen to during this time. See the list below:

  1. Harambee Harambee – Daudi Kabaka

A Kenyan classic by a Kenyan legend.

In “Harambee, Harambee,” Daudi Kabaka sings about the noble qualities of his countrymen: their integrity, inclusivity and love for peace. When we listen to it today, we see the hopes of our ancestors, calling us to strive to those ideals.

 

2. Pamoja – Masauti & Jovial (Official Video)

In this song Masauti and Jovial urges Kenyans to love each other and love the nation. Together we can build the country.

 

3. Coming Home – Nameless

“There’s nothing sweeter or more superior
Than to know where you are from
And represent your home…”

 

4. Kenya Nchi Yangu – Kakai Kilonzo

Every Independence Day morning, all the local television stations play this song, among others, before the live coverage of the national celebrations. It has such a catchy and distinctive tune that everyone is familiar with.

Kakai Kilonzo transports us back in time with a movie showcasing our nation’s historical turning points, from the political to the athletic and infrastructure.

 

5. My Land Is Kenya – Roger Whittaker

Kenyan/British singer, songwriter and musician Roger Whittaker sang My Land Is Kenya on his 1984 album A Musical Safari.

He exhibits his famous baritone and whistling- which in another countdown take him straight to number one- in this song.
