YouTube awards Phyllis Mbuthia with Silver Play Button days after losing channel

Popular Kikuyu gospel singer Phyllis Mbuthia, who lost her YouTube channel with 300,000 subscribers, has, in a touching turn of events, found comfort and support from the Kenyan community.

Ndugu Nyoro, a kind Samaritan, intervened to help Phyllis on her quest to reestablish her internet presence despite the desperation.

After losing her prior account, Ndungu Nyoro helped Phyllis earn the YouTube Silver Play Button, which signifies 100,000 subscribers, in just one day.

When hackers suddenly removed Phyllis Mbuthia’s YouTube channel, which she had worked painstakingly to build over the period of seven years, she was upset.

The platform provided by the account—which has more than 300,000 members and over 30 million views—was important for Phyllis as she used it to share her songs and motivate her followers.

On Sunday, November 11, Phyllis published a touching video on her Facebook page in which she sobbed as she described her shock and agony at the unexpected loss.

She bemoaned the endless hours of toil and devotion she had put into developing and caring for her channel, only to have it disappear in a matter of six hours.

“Somebody has just deleted my YouTube account with over 300,000 subscribers and discarded it just like that. The account which I had built in seven years has been terminated in just six hours,” she explained with early eyes.

The ‘Githe Tiwe Ngai’ hit singer says she will have to start again and appeals to fans to check out her new channel.

“Losing a Youtube Channel with over 300k subscribers and over 30 million views having built it for over 7 years is a painful experience… they have stolen the channel but not the anointing,” she wrote.

At the moment of writing, the channel and his music videos are unavailable with an indication that reads; “This video is no longer available because the Youtube account associated with it has been terminated.”
