“Mimi ni yatima”: Bahati Says His Life Is In Danger After Rejecting Raila’s job offer

Mathare MP aspirant Kevin Kioko Bahati is facing serious challenges in his aim to represent the people of Mathare Constituency as their next Member of Parliament (MP).

According to new reports, Bahati has rejected Azimio La Umoja presidential candidate Raila Odinga’s offer of a government job, if he steps down for ODM’s Anthony Oluoch.

“Here in Mathare, as Baba I know I have two children in the same race. Do you want me to advice you as Baba? This is what I want…I have Oluoch and Bahati, this is what I decide… I will hold Bahati’s hand. Huyu Bahati ni mtoto yangu, nitampatia kazi kwa sererkali yangu,” Raila said.

Adding:

“Ruaraka MP is TJ Kajwang while Mathare MP is Oluoch… Ntaka kuona kama Lang’ata yote inarudi Azimio. Nataka pande ile ingine ni Jalang’o na pande hiyo ingine ni Orero Mwalimu, hiyo ndo imeleta mimi hapa leo.”

Bahati, who was standing close to Odinga on a car’s sunroof, reacted angrily by jumping off and vanishing into the crowd.

Bahati said he is still in the race and would not step down for his opponent as advised. He further claimed that he had been attacked by goons due to his political stand.

The aspirant now says that his life is in danger after rejecting Raila’s offer.

“I have been receiving threats… Some goons were sent to mishandle me, ripping my Jubilee shirt,” he said.

Adding:

“I am fighting for the people of Mathare. I had a job as a musician but the people of Mathare are going through a lot of struggles.”
