Caleb Amisi: The MP Who Donated His Whole Salary To Residents

A member of parliament donating his salary to set up development initiatives for his or her people would certainly sound like a dream to any Kenyan.

Slum inhabitants in the Saboti Constituency got their wish when Member of Parliament Caleb Amisi arrived with a solution to their ongoing water problem.

Amisi utilized his June income to construct ten water taps for slum dwellers in his district. He explained that he made the choice to assist his constituents after listening to the slum residents’ repeated cries.

“Although water and sanitization fall under the county and national governments. I decided to deny myself in order to help you, my people,” he reiterated.

Slum inhabitants, according to the politician, have been suffering for a long time because they lacked access to clean water.

One of the residents described the difficulties she and other residents had faced.

“We have suffered because of using unclean water. Sometimes, we have to forego our work to tend to our children when they have running stomachs,” she expressed.

Residents also requested that their young MP construct a bridge for them.

She praised the MP for establishing the stations, saying that they would now have clean water to drink and use for other household tasks.

The Saboti MP provided Ksh14 million worth of food to slum dwellers in his constituency in May 2020 to help them cope with the coronavirus pandemic.

Amisi thanked the community members for attending the project’s official launch and pledged to help out anytime he could.
