Jeff Mwathi’s body Exhumed, to undergo another autopsy

The dead interior designer Jeff Mwathi’s body is currently being exhumed at his parents’ house in Likia, Nakuru County.

Exhumation was mandated by police in order to clear up any questions regarding his contentious death on February 24 in an apartment in Kasarani, Nairobi.

Police sought the exhumation order after preliminary forensic investigations ruled out suicide as earlier claimed.

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations are conducting the exhumation exercise.

The autopsy will be conducted by Government pathologist Johansen Oduor in a tent that has been set up by the grave site.

Other than establishing the cause of death through the postmortem, detectives also want to establish whether Jeff’s body could have gone through the grills of the bedroom window of a house he is alleged to have jumped from to his death.

Inspector General of police Japhet Koome last Sunday that police are doing thorough investigations to ensure justice in the case.

“We will have that body exhumed look at dimensions on where he is said to have passed at the window to drop to the ground floor. We are moving to court to seek an order for the exhumation,” Koome said.
