Zora actor pleads for help after losing 3 family members in fire incident
Following a tragic fire incident that claimed the lives of three of his relatives, Kenyan actor Ryan Mwenda, best known for his role as Simba in the popular TV soap opera Zora, has publicly appealed to both current Head of State William Ruto and former President Uhuru Kenyatta.
The aspiring actor announced the loss of his loved ones in a fire that consumed their South B home on the evening of March 2, 2024, on his Instagram page in a five-minute video.
“I am absolutely devastated. Words can’t explain my pain during this moment. The loss of my 3 relatives in such a short period has been heavy on us as a family. We ask that you keep us in your prayers,” Ryan shared.
The 16-year-old, who is the nephew of Jackie, Tymara Karimia, and Kinya, has denied a request for financial support to send off his loved ones and friends.
“It’s such a devastating time for me and my family and I’m humbly appealing to my friends, the Fourth President of Kenya His Excellency Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta, and the Fifth President of Kenya His Excellency President William Ruto to come to the aid of my family to assist in giving them a befitting send-off,” Mwenda stated.
Victims attempted to seek help after a fire destroyed their house, with one sister sharing the harrowing account on social media, expressing regret for not helping during their final moments.
“I am saddened to learn about the painful deaths you went through calling for help that was not forthcoming. Forgive me, forgive us. We were not there when you called for help. We found all your bodies near the door; you would have made it out if a little effort was put in and doors or windows open,” she wrote on Facebook.
