Ahmednasir Abdullah distances himself from Ruto, Explains Why He Won’t Represent him at Supreme Court

Senior counsel Ahmednasir Abdullah has revealed that he will not be available to represent the president elect William Ruto at the Supreme Court, where Raila Odinga is petition the court to nullify the August 9 presidential Election.

Azimio candidate is expected to present loads of documents and evidential material aimed at convincing judges that the electoral commission was involved in a series of fraudulent manipulation calculated to deny him a win.

According to lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullah he won’t act for Ruto in the Supreme Court because he is conflicted.

“I want but I can’t act for President Elect Ruto in the Supreme Court. I’m conflicted. In 2017 I acted for outgoing President Uhuru against Hon Raila. Now that Uhuru’s project (Hon Raila) is challenging Ruto’s victory obviously Uhuru will object & raise clients-Advocate privilege,” he tweeted.

He added:

“Starting kesho I will run a twitter commentary on the Supreme Court petition that will be filed by Hon Raila. I will appraise the strength & weaknesses of the case, the responses by the respondents & jurisprudential clue we should look from the 7 judges. I will predict the decision.”

Ruto is eyeing his chief agent and outgoing Tharaka Nithi Senator Kithure Kindiki to defend his victory at the Supreme Court.

Lawyer Nelson Havi who unsuccessfully contested for the Westlands parliamentary seat is also on the list.

Others are Kioko Kilukumi, Katwa Kigen and Muthomi Thiankolu.

The petition will be determined by the seven judges of the Supreme Court, led by Chief Justice and President of the Supreme Court Martha Koome.

Others are Lady Justices Philomena Mbete Mwilu (Deputy Chief Justice and Vice President of the Supreme Court), Njoki Susanna Ndung’u, Justices Mohamed Khadhar Ibrahim, Dr Smokin Wanjala and Isaac Lenaola.

Four IEBC commissioners have distanced themselves from the results announced by Wafula Chebukati, insisting that they were his (Chebukati’s personal results and not those of the commission.

The four commissioners, Juliana Chererea, Francis Wanderi, Justus Nyangaya, and Irene Masit maintained that the numbers released by Chebukati were erroneous and he ought to have verified them before declaring William Ruto as President-elect.
