Transline Staff apologizes after being fired for celebrating Raila Odinga’s loss: “Find a place in your heart to forgive me!”

Cliff Onchiri, a Transline Bus Company employee who appeared to be celebrating the defeat of Raila Odinga’s rival Azimio la Umoja in a video he posted, has been sacked.

In the video, which surfaced soon after the Supreme Court upheld President-elect William Ruto’s victory, Onchiri is seen telling Raila to “wake up, he has been defeated again” while wearing the uniform of the Transline company.

His comments infuriated some social media users, which prompted the management of the transportation company to discipline him.

Onchiri, who was visibly upset, has revealed in a video that his employer had decided to terminate him.

In order to continue providing for his family, he therefore begged well-wishers who would be moved by his plight to offer him a job.

“They fired me. I am back to square one, Im pleading with anyone to offer me a job so that I can support my family. I can do any kind of job,” said Onchiri.

Further, the man apologised for his utterances in the clip, saying he did not intend to hurt anyone.

Onchiri asserted that his remarks were personal and did not reflect the company’s attitude.

“I would like to say those were individual views and not the company’s. I would like to apologise to our customers, especially Azimio supporters. I did not intend to hurt anyone. I am very much sorry for what happened. May you find a place in your heart to forgive me,” said Onchiri.

As was previously reported, the business claimed that Onchiri was a casual employee stationed at the Afya Center headquarters in a statement dated Tuesday, September 6.

“As a company, we wish to disassociate ourselves from the clip and state that it was done by the individual’s will and does not in anyway represent the views of the company,” read the company’s statement while reacting to the video.
